A.R.C. of Grace
Ambassadors
Represnting
Christ
The name comes from Isaiah 6:1-8 & 2 Cor. 5:20. In Isaiah we get a picture of what happened to him when he was given a glimpse of the heavenly throne. He was exposed as a "man of unclean lips" and his people were exposed the same way (v.5). When the Lord asks “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” (v.8) Isaiah says “Here am I! Send me.” (v.7). Isaiah is moved to this because the of remedy of grace that was personally applied to him (v.7).
In the Corinthians passage Paul calls fellow believers "Christ's ambassadors" because we have been reconciled to God through Christ. An ambassador can be defined as an official envoy of a sovereign ruler to a foreign land.
Isaiah was sent out by the grace of God to proclaim Truth to his people (Isaiah 6:8). Followers of Christ are sent out by the grace to God as ambassadors to proclaim Truth to the world (2 Cor. 5:20).
This is what we want for our students. To be moved by God to go out into their family, friends, and the rest of the world as representatives of Christ.
Through all of our lessons and discussions we will be seeking to "gaze upon the face of God". When we do this, like Isaiah, we will be exposed, our culture will be exposed and we will be moved to take action. In all of this we want to bring glory to God and the good news to those who need to hear it.
Of course no one can physically see God. The phrase "gaze upon the face of God" simply means to further understand His character and nature and in doing that we will further understand how we can bring Him the greatest glory.
